Author Apothecary & Bookstore

An indie bookstore creating a dedicated space for Oshkosh's bookish community.

The owner of Author Apothecary & Bookstore needed a logo for their new store, including a brick-and-mortar location on Main Street in Oshkosh, WI. She wanted to create a space where people could find what they need through nature, book and community.

The logo centers around an illustration of a lavender plant growing and rooted in the pages of a book. Lavender, a well-known and used herb, also indicates growth and calm, tying back to the apothecary side of the business. Serif fonts harken back to traditional book typefaces, but are used in a modern way, including rounded edges and organic flourishes. The typeface seems to have roots of its own that form around other letters.
